Workbook W4

We had another critique on our proposal to refine the smaller details. Our biggest critique was that we weren’t being specific in what we wanted to say we were just alluding to it. As well as that we needed to change our HOW MIGHT WE to make it suit more.

HOW MIGHT WE (NEW):
How might we convert the social media phone habits of university students into real-life social interactions?

So after a bit of a rewrite in those areas, we completed our booklet (after a printer hiccup or two!)

Final booklet:

We then focused on our presentation.

Ideas:

Presentation

  1. Kevin narrative (Josh is Kevin). For example

Presenter : This is Kevin

Kevin: *On phone* *waves while still looking at his phone*

Presenter: Like many of you, he uses his phone far too much. But does he care?

Kevin: *still on phone* No

Presenter: More than half the university students surveyed said they were addicted to  their phones, yet chose not to do anything about it. By why should they care? Smartphone addiction in students is increasing rapidly2. Because of this, many of them are generally spending more time looking at screens and socialising online rather than making meaningful physical connections.

Kevin. *turns into josh – puts down phone*. To quote JANNA ANDERSON & LEE RAINIE humans need real life interaction, not just social interaction. These interactions are important for students to regain, as face to face interraction is proven to “comfort us and provide us with some important sense of well-being” 1.

Sum big stats and stuff wow

Presenter: How might we convert the social media phone habits of university students into real life social interactions?
